General William Jackson Palmer and Glen Eyrie Castle

Have you ever wondered about the story of the man on the horse immortalized as a statue which sits at the intersection of Platte Ave and Nevada Ave in Downtown Colorado Springs? If not for General William Jackson Palmer, Colorado Springs may never have been established as the city we know today. The General was responsible for establishing Colorado Springs, the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, and so much more. For his wife, normally referred to as Queen Palmer, he built Glen Eyrie to be the family home.
